It is possible to be very good at a certain area but not enjoy it. Many people choose this area as a career because they know it will make them money. You may choose to do this if you are driven by that same motivation, but sometimes it's better off to choose a career you will enjoy; after all, it is what will bring you happiness and motivate you to increase your earning potential through the actual work you do.
The first step toward choosing from among the top careers is matching your choices with what you most enjoy. Think of all the activities you could see yourself doing everyday for the rest of your life. Next think of what you simply could not see yourself doing for ever. These are the choices you need to discount right away. As a general rule, if you won't enjoy it, don't do it.
Now that you have thought about what you see yourself doing for the rest of your life, it's time to figure out where you fit in that continuum. You will need to take your own personal assessment of skills and attributes in order to accomplish this part of the process. Once you have outlined your special attributes it's time to carefully consider your options. This is where you weigh them all in an effort to select those that are right for your abilities and skill level. Remember, you can always work your way up so you are never short of options.
You may choose to select a few so you will be able to narrow it down. When choosing from among the top careers, you need to be realistic. Know what you will do in order to get to where you want to be and begin doing it.
Know what is expected in your industry. If you are to ever succeed in a particular industry, you must know what is expected of you all around. This is what helps you to grow in your career.
