Online Proofreading Jobs - 5 Tips From An Employer - Here!

Last week I posted a couple of online proofreading jobs to Craigslist for a website that I'm not going to mention here (because I don't want to pimp my stuff). I wanted to share a few of the things I found out so that you can have a better chance of getting work when it comes up.

Here are my top tips to getting online proofreading jobs:

1. Get In Early - After two days I already had far more responses to my ad than I could deal with so I had to close it down. Make sure you respond in the first few hours or forget it.

2. Write a Good Cover Letter - Most of the applicants just sent in their CV, but the people I interviewed sent me a message that explained why their skills matched the position.

3. Complete Tasks - Whenever I interview for a job I set a difficult first task to test the working relationship with the person. 90% of the people did not do the task and it just left me with a few who I knew where capable.

4. Stand Out - The person we picked in the end looked at all the articles on our site and made a list of all the errors in the copy. You should think of something that will set you apart.

5. Meet Deadlines - Our new employee works from home and has never missed any of the deadlines we set up. This is a great trait and I have already given her a pay rise.

Final thoughts.

This was the first time I had hired someone just through an online process and it seems to be working out great so far.

There are a lot of high quality online proofreading jobs out there and if you can get something full time you won't have to worry about searching the job boards anymore.

Go for it!

Becoming News Reporters

You can get your news anywhere, but when you want to know what is going on in your local area, the best source you have is the local news reporters that report for your local station. You can read blurbs and items online, but you get the best information by watching the news each night. It may seem, especially on some small stations, that there are no requirements to become a news reporter, but that is not true. These folks really do care about the news, and they are often the ones going out to find out what is going on. They are not just reading from a teleprompter.

Most news reporters have degrees in journalism. This means they have learned much more about gathering facts and information than you may realize. They know where they can go and what they can do to get the story they want, and where they must stop before they cross a line of privacy. These folks spend years in college learning these things, along with extensive classes on writing, grammar, and ethics. If you want to be one of the news reporters you see on your nightly news, sign up for those college classes now.

There are some things to know about being news reporters. This is not a job where you show up in nice clothes and looking good, just to sit in front of a camera for a half an hour. You don't get to go home. You will work a full work day with a lot of overtime in some cases. Those news reporters that you see doing your news in the morning have been there for a few hours preparing, and probably stay all morning working on stories until they again deliver the news at noon. After that, new reporters come in, work all afternoon and through the evening. It can be a very intense career.

You don't have to be extremely good looking to be news reporters. Some assume that, but that is not the case. What you do have to worry about is being tidy, neat, and able to put together a professional and stylish wardrobe. You have to keep your teeth white and your eyebrows plucked, but you don't have to be a beauty pageant winner to work in the news. You just have to be presentable and clean cut. You also have to be able to speak clearly and concisely, and you also have to keep a straight face during sad or even funny stories. Those are the attributes that will get you a good gig as a news reporter.

Most news reporters start out at very small stations. They are often field reporters at first. This means that your first gig may be a live shoot at a local BBQ competition or house fire. When you have shown you can speak in front of the camera and deliver quality stories (no matter what the subject matter), you may then move up to the newsroom. After you have established yourself there, you can try for jobs in larger markets, and even national markets. It is not an easy career, but news reporters often have very fulfilling careers. It's a lot of work, but for the right person, a great career choice.

The iPhone Repair Business

If you want a business that costs next to nothing to start and are ready to be rewarded by grateful and generous customers, you need to try iPhone repair. The average repair only takes about ten minutes and you will pocket approximately $40.

If you have lost your job, about to lose your house and have mounting debt that you can't repay, you need to try a home based business. The reason is that you care about you and your business more than anyone else, so you will do whatever it takes to make it work.

You have to know that there will be a lot of competition so in order to make your business work you will have to have a strong customer base. For instance, if you want to start a automobile body shop you will have to compete with all of the others.

Apple charges between $200 and $250 to replace the iPhone glass. The parts for the 3G and 3GS will cost you about $11. You can get all of the business that you handle and charge somewhere between $45 and $99. The reason you can charge so much less is that you have no overhead. You are working out of your home and you can advertise for free on the Internet. After your business gets going and you have a solid customer base, you can raise your prices and still have all of the business that you want.

In recent advertisements in The Los Angeles there were request calls totaling more than $2,000. This is probably one of the most competitive markets the world. Being an entrepreneur isn't merely a career but it is rather an experience. Although real success might not always be immediate in the iPhone repair business, the possibility for real profits and opportunities are there. However, it can be challenging for first time business owners to get a start. This is where the idea for home based small business ideas was born.

An iPhone repair business can be very profitable, controllable, and small. Home based businesses create numerous hopeful entrepreneurs. They are popular and practical and most of them are small to medium in size. Most of them usually start because a person is experiencing financial difficulties in one way or another. Home based businesses will provide you with the correct exposure to business principles so that you can support your development and growth in the iPhone repair field.

Although it isn't an easy career path, specializing in neurosonography is an excellent choice for sonography students who are fascinated by the human brain and want to help people live better lives. There are many job options for medical professionals who specialize in neurosonography and many different locations where you can find employment. You may work with any number of different patient populations and alongside all sorts of talented medical professionals. So what is this diagnostic medical sonography job all about?

Specializing in neurosonography means that you are a diagnostic medical sonographer or sonography technician who works specifically with the nervous system, which includes the brain and other parts of the body. You may also specialize in neonatal neurosonography, in which case you would work in the field of studying and diagnosing nervous system and neurological disorders that occur in infants, typically those who have been born premature. It is a very specific field of sonography that is vital to the medical community.

Neurosonographers are responsible for operating transducers in order to perform sonograms on their patients, just like all other sonographers are. What makes neurosonographers different, however, is the fact that they use specialized beam shapes and frequencies that are quite unlike the ones used by abdominal and obstetric sonographers.

You will need at least a two-year degree to enter this field, if not a four-year degree, and you must pass a certification or licensing exam. As a neurosonographer, you can expect to work in a hospital, clinic or private physician's office, although there may be other types of environments where you might find employment as well. A great deal of your work will likely take place in dark rooms where the diagnostic imaging machines are located, but you may also perform patient procedures right at their bedside in some cases. You will need to be ready to work long hours on your feet and deal with stressful work situations, particularly with chronically ill patients. You may also be required to work nights and weekends.

If this sounds like a good career for you, there are many accredited school programs where you can get started.

It is possible to be very good at a certain area but not enjoy it. Many people choose this area as a career because they know it will make them money. You may choose to do this if you are driven by that same motivation, but sometimes it's better off to choose a career you will enjoy; after all, it is what will bring you happiness and motivate you to increase your earning potential through the actual work you do.

The first step toward choosing from among the top careers is matching your choices with what you most enjoy. Think of all the activities you could see yourself doing everyday for the rest of your life. Next think of what you simply could not see yourself doing for ever. These are the choices you need to discount right away. As a general rule, if you won't enjoy it, don't do it.

Now that you have thought about what you see yourself doing for the rest of your life, it's time to figure out where you fit in that continuum. You will need to take your own personal assessment of skills and attributes in order to accomplish this part of the process. Once you have outlined your special attributes it's time to carefully consider your options. This is where you weigh them all in an effort to select those that are right for your abilities and skill level. Remember, you can always work your way up so you are never short of options.

You may choose to select a few so you will be able to narrow it down. When choosing from among the top careers, you need to be realistic. Know what you will do in order to get to where you want to be and begin doing it.

Know what is expected in your industry. If you are to ever succeed in a particular industry, you must know what is expected of you all around. This is what helps you to grow in your career.

Business Attitude

Your attitude defines your altitude, says my boss. And I think he's right. How you act to certain situations can pretty much determine how much you achieve in life. Education, yes, it's important. Experience too; money as well. And, yes, connections are also essential. But without the right business attitude, you would not be able to make use of these assets to push your self to the top.

Say, if you get easily get affected by criticism and problems, you probably wouldn't be able to move on and make better of your self. You'll probably end up fearful of risks and paranoid of what other people think. Your attitude basically empowers you. And as an aspiring entrepreneur, it is one of the things you have got to master in order to be successful.

The right attitude helps you develop into a more effective entrepreneur. It makes you look more professional and reliable. It also gives you confidence and control of your work environment. When you apply the correct business attitude, you end up more prepared for whatever challenge may come.

There are many ways to display proper business demeanor. But here are some practices you can start with to improve your performance and the way people look at you at work.

1. Be on time.
There are a number of nationalities who appreciate timeliness in their transactions. In addition, most companies like employees who value timelines. It denotes respect and interest. So if you are hoping to engage in a deal with an investor or get promoted in the coming year, be on time for work and for meetings.

2. Look your best.
Though clothes do not define who you are, it does create an impression. So if you want to get noticed and be regarded with high esteem, dress the part. Try it and you'll find out that if you look good for work, then you feel good about it. Most employers have a dress code anyway. And often it requires staff to dress appropriately.

3. Greet people.
It's a minor gesture but it has a great impact on your reputation. The more sociable and courteous you are, the more likely people will endorse you for certain privileges and even promotion.

4. Value the opinion of people. Do not interrupt while they are speaking.
Regardless of whether or not they are in agreement with you, you have to acknowledge people's insights and suggestions - especially if you are a team lead or attending a conference. Respect begets respect. And once you display it, it's highly likely that your subordinates and colleagues will emulate it.

5. Be accountable for you actions.
Don't point blame. It's very childish. If you did something wrong, claim it. If you did something right, bask in the glory. In the workplace, we all do our individual responsibilities. A problem with your output is more likely brought about by a flawed decision you made than by someone sabotaging your work. In the first place, you would not be sabotaged if you took care of every aspect of your job.

Every business attitude listed is integral to your effectiveness in entrepreneurship. Hence, supple as you are, you've got to begin applying them.
